Speaking

Speaking

Two formats, both fee bands published. Mostly financial-wellbeing sessions for people who did not choose to be there.

I don't sell anything from the stage. No book table, no sign-up sheet, no advisor waiting at the back with a clipboard. Your people have been sold to enough.

What I do is teach — the same syllabus as the show, compressed, and aimed at whatever this particular audience is actually worried about.

Three formats

An ordinary room, not a stage. Very few slides. The first fifteen minutes are spent finding out what this audience is genuinely worried about, because the answer is never what the person who booked me predicted. Then we do that, properly, with real numbers on the screen. People stay afterwards and ask the question they would not ask in front of the room.

The talk

Forty-five minutes and questions. One subject, taken properly — usually pensions or payslips, because that is what people ask about once they are allowed to.

The half-day

Three hours, and people leave having actually done something. Bring your own payslip and your own pension statement; nobody looks at anybody else's.

The panel

Sixty to ninety minutes, hosted or as a guest. Best when there is a real disagreement in the room rather than four people agreeing politely.

Send an inquiry

Please include exact or approximate date, where, and who the audience will be, and let's explore options of what I can do for you and your audience.

Publishing the fee is the point. If it is not the right number for you, you have found that out in eleven seconds rather than after four emails.

The obvious questions

Will you travel?

Yes, anywhere in the UK and to Europe. Travel is charged at cost and agreed before anything is confirmed, so there is no surprise line on the invoice. Further afield is possible but the maths rarely works for a single session.

Can you do it remotely?

The talk and the panel work remotely and I do them regularly. The half-day does not, and I would rather say that than take the booking — it depends on people working on their own documents and asking things out loud, and neither happens reliably on a call.

Do you tailor it?

Always, and it is the part that takes the time. I ask for a sense of the group beforehand — roughly what they do, roughly what they are paid, and what HR already knows people are anxious about. A session written for graduates is not the session for people fifteen years from retiring.

Can our people ask you things afterwards?

Yes, by email, for a fortnight after the session, and it is included. To be clear about what it is: it is teaching, not advice. I will explain how something works and what it depends on. I will not tell anyone what to do with their own money, and I am not regulated to.
